The New Variety of Durum Wheat "Koryfei--88"

The article is devoted to a new variety of durum wheat "Koryfei -88", created as a result of long-term breed-ing using the gene pool from the National Genebank in the Azerbaijan Research Institute of Crop Husbandry. Highly adaptive wheat varieties were developed along with varieties with high yield potential and grain qual-ity under sharply distinguishing agrometeorological conditions during 2014-2016 years. Bio-morphological and agronomical features and characteristics of "Koryfei-88" were compared with standard and perspective varieties of wheat realized in the region. It was revealed that the crop yield and grain quality indicators that were stable for years in the new variety were associated with a large number of grains per ear and adaptabil-ity. The new variety "Koryfei-88" is recommended for cultivation under irrigated lowland and the rainfed conditions of Azerbaijan.
